Your platform could be Medium or Twitter or it could be some sort of significant media presence or it could be the platform that comes with being an important voice in a certain field. For non-fiction books, publishers ask two big questions when considering a proposal: WHAT'S THE IDEA? (is it original? Is it surprising? Do people want to know about it? Does it feel timely?) And HOW CAN WE MARKET IT? Your platform, whatever it may be, is an important factor to consider for an eventual marketing effort.
